ComputerSite Engineering consultants visit existing facilities, determine Best Practices, and make recommendations for site infrastructure improvements based on client’s business case.

A two-day, on-site, overview assessment of a site’s strategic value in terms of Capacity, Capability, and as-found Conditions of its principal systems
  • Evaluates the sustainable Capacity of the facility infrastructure supporting the IT environment
  • Identifies as-found Conditions in terms of best practices and risks to continuing operations of its principal systems
  • Characterizes the Capability (topology) relative to the Uptime Institute Tier Classification System
  • Final report presents Recommendations, Deficiencies, Observations, Best Practices, and Lurking Vulnerabilities

 A five-day, on-site evaluation of  capacity constraints, potential downtime vulnerabilities, equipment and system deficiencies, and single points-of-failure

  • Work closely with Facilities and IT personnel
  • Assess 16 critical site subsystems
  • Review design drawings to determine configuration and capacity of installed equipment
  • Benchmark facility against data centers with similar availability objectives
  • On-site summary outbrief, final report, and presentation to management indicate Best Practices as well as prioritized Recommendations for operational changes and capital investments
 

 A three- to five-day, on-site evaluation of various components of Critical Environment (CE) management that influence the site’s availability

  • Work closely with Facilities and IT personnel to assess Operations & Maintenance procedures and protocols
  • Provide management program recommendations aimed at improving the site’s uptime performance
  • Examine personnel issues such as staffing, expertise, training, and required manhours
  • Final report presents Executive Summary, Recommendations, and Best Practices
 

A two- to five-day, on-site, evaluation of the raised-floor environment designed to steer improved cooling efficiencies (includes representative measurements)

  • Examines hot spots and other deficiencies that inhibit proper cooling of IT equipment, the general health of the raised-floor environment, and the procedures and processes required to deliver stable and predictable cooling
  • Identifies how to resolve cooling issues, where the cooling capacity of the raised floor can be recovered at relatively low cost, and recommends detailed and methodical steps to eliminate hot spots and make cooling capacity available for expanded support of IT equipment
  • Final report presents Executive Summary, Recommendations, and Best Practices
